First round of the EuroCup quarterfinals hosting Rytas Vilnius on a roll #DefensemLaFonteta

04/03/2019

Valencia Basket opens its eleventh participation in the 7DAYS EuroCup playoffs with the quarterfinals game 1 vs. Rytas Vilnius (Tuesday 5, 20: 45h, Fonteta, Teledeporte) in a game where the taronja squad will try to defend the home-court advantage achieved after a perfect Top 16. The team led by Jaume Ponsarnau defends a 10 wins in a row streak in European competition and a court where remains unbeaten in the eight home-games played so far in this edition of the EuroCup.

Valencia Basket will become the first team to reach 200 games played in the EuroCup, and does so playing against another classic team of this competition, although tomorrow will be only the fourth confrontation between these two teams. Forward Alberto Abalde is available again after missing the weekend game on the court of the Delteco GBC, while Bojan Dubljevic is questionable until the last moment for the bruise at the level of the left iliac-sacral joint that did not allow him to play in San Sebastián. If he can finally play, the Montenegrin will face the Belarusian center Artsiom Parakhouski, a match-up between the two centers in best shape of the EuroCup.

Coach Ponsarnau

"We are eager to play this game. We do this to play games like this one. We are convinced about our chances and we have a lot of respect for the quality of our opponent, who is playing at great level and it is in its best moment of the season. I am worried to see which players we will have available for the game and see the level they can give us so we can adapt and make the most of the situation. We have not played great in the last games, but the team is working fine and solving problems but we need that extra bit of energy to find the best in ourselves"
