The Jr. NBA Global Championship lands again at L'Alqueria with its Europe & Mid East Training Camp

The NBA has chosen L'Alqueria del Basket for the second year in a row as the setting for the Europe ad Middle East Training Camp of the Jr. NBA Global Championship. A five-day training camp for a team of boys and one for girls between 13 and 14 years old that will represent Europe in this tournament, which will take place between July 30 and August 3 in the best basketball facilities in the continent.


In total 20 young people representing 14 countries, none of them Spain, and who have been chosen after a week-long selection process on the campus of Bologna, Italy. Only 10 boys and 10 girls of the 60 young people who showed up will be at L'Alqueria del Basket. Lithuania, England, Italy or Serbia are the countries with the highest representation.

 

The men's team will be led by coaches Petar Marinkovic (Russia) and Robin Foniok (Czech Republic) and the group of girls will be trained by Teijo Sandvik (Finland) and Freddy Umbelina (Portugal). Its mission will be to prepare the kids for the competition that will be held between August 6 and 11 at the ESPN Wide World of Sports Complex near Orlando.

 

This championship organized by the best basketball league in the world will have a male and female division, of 16 teams each, which will be split into a United States group and an international group. They will start with a tie of all against all and continue with a format of competition to a match. The United States and international champions will play in the Global Championship Games on August 11.
