Looking for our first win vs. Olympiacos Piraeus at La Fonteta to extend the Playoff options

30/03/2021

Valencia Basket repeats European clash at La Fonteta with the aim of maintaining its good dynamics at home and keeping its options to qualify for the most even Playoff in the recent history of the Euroleague completely open, facing the only rival that so far has not has been able to knock down at home, Olympiacos Piraeus (Wednesday 31st, 9:00 pm, Fonteta, DAZN / Movistar dial 59) in a game corresponding to round 32.

As a guarantee to seek that first win against the Red and White team at La Fonteta, Valencia Basket has good recent home-court performance. In its last eight home games in the Euroleague, the taronja squad has won seven of them (Anadolu Efes Istanbul, Khimki Moscow Region, Crvena Zvevda mts Belgrade, CSKA Moscow, Real Madrid, Fenerbahçe Beko Istanbul and FC Bayern Munich) and have only lost once, on the last play, vs. Zalgiris Kaunas.

Jaume Ponsarnau's men already broke their particular curse against this rival in the first leg, breaking a streak of nine consecutive defeats against this rival with a win by 85-96. The Taronja team will keep the same 12-man roster for this game than in the last games, with the Icelandic guard Martin Hermannsson sidelined due to a fiber break in the soleus of his right leg and Josep Puerto out due to a coach decision.

In a game between two of the teams with the best 2-point percentage in the entire championship, the taronja squad will try to minimize the opponent's offensive capacity and maintain the good defensive performance of their last five victories in the Euroleague, in which it has left its rivals by only 67.2 points on average.

The taronja squad currently occupies the tenth position of the Turkish Airlines EuroLeague with a balance of 17-14.
