Valencia Basket seeks to seal the ticket for the Copa del Rey against Gran Canaria

27/01/2022

Valencia Basket will have the first of its two chances to seal its participation in the Copa del Rey by recovering its postponed game from the Endesa League round 16 against Gran Canaria (Friday 28, 9:00 p.m., Fonteta, #Vamos) in a game in which the taronja squad will try to extend a good streak that is already of six wins in a row and add a victory that would mathematically put them in the big appointment that will be held in Granada between February 17 and 20.

And that it would keep its options open to be seeded for the Copa del Rey draw, something that the taronja team would achieve in the event of winning both this game and the one on Sunday at the Lenovo Tenerife’s court.

This game was initially scheduled for January 3 and was changed due to the detection of positives for Covid-19 in the away team and later rescheduled for January 22, a date on which it could not be played due to the five positives from the taronja team and so it was pushed back to this friday.

For the second time this season, coach Joan Peñarroya will have eleven pro players in an Endesa League clash to face this game, with Valencian forward Víctor Claver (injured to his left foot) as the only sidelined player.

Buoyed by the good feelings of their win on Tuesday against Buducnost Voli Podgorica, Valencia Basket faces the second game of their four-game series in eight days against a rival that has won La Fonteta in three of their last six visits, including the 7DAYS EuroCup first leg game when they won by 89-90 on November 3. Valencia Basket currently occupies the seventh position in the Endesa League, with a balance of 9-6.
