Direct duel for second place in the acb in La Fonteta vs. Barça

28/10/2023

Valencia Basket men’s team hopes to have the Fonteta of the great occasions to face a direct duel for second place in the acb facing Barça (Sunday 29, 6:30 p.m., Fonteta, Movistar Plus+) in a Endesa League round 7 game.

The taronja squad comes to the game with the moral boost of its solid win in Lithuania on Friday and will need to repeat the good defensive exercise carried out in Kaunas to try to minimize the effectiveness of an opponent that arrives as one of the best attacks and that is the who scores the most triples in the acb.

Valencia Basket will try to extend its good moment in national competition with the support of its public (with five wins in a row in Endesa League) and at the same time try to change its recent dynamic against an opponent that has taken victory from Fonteta in five of their last six visits in the Endesa League, including the heavy defeat in the second quarterfinal game that ended last season. The general precedents are also favorable to the Barça team (17-24).

With the only confirmed absence due to injury to point guard Martin Hermannsson, coach Álex Mumbrú has 14 players from his professional squad available for this game, including the recovered Jared Harper who already contributed 13 points to the victory in Kaunas and Xabi López-Arostegui who, after a prolonged absence, still did not enter the squad for that game despite the fact that he has been training with the group for a few days.

Regarding Friday's roster, the Taronja coach will have to include again one of the two Spain-raised players who did not participate in Lithuania (López-Arostegui or Ferrando) and deactivate one of the non Spain-raised players.

Valencia Basket begins this seventh round in third position with a balance of 5-1.
