Valencia Basket closes the first round of the acb hosting Dreamland Gran Canaria

06/01/2024

Valencia Basket men's team closes the first leg of the Endesa League with its third consecutive home game of the week in five days to host Dreamland Gran Canaria (Sunday 7, 5:00 p.m., Fonteta, Movistar Deportes 3) in a acb round 17 game.

Just over 42 hours after the unrewarded effort of their defeat in the last game against Panathinaikos Aktor Athens, the taronja squad will have the support of its fans to give it an extra point in its physical and emotional recovery to find energy enough to take on one of the hottest teams in the acb.

With the two teams already qualified for the Copa del Rey, Valencia Basket needs to win this game and a defeat by UCAM Murcia or Barça to have the seeding status in the draw on January 15.

On an afternoon in which Jaime Pradilla can play his 200th game as a taronja player, Valencia Basket will need its best version to face a dangerous rival that has taken victory from Fonteta in three of its last eight visits, although the last four times that have faced each other on the taronja court in acb (including the 2020 Final Round game) have ended with a Valencian victory.

With the only confirmed absence due to injury to Víctor Claver and the doubt as to whether Boubacar Touré will be able to recover from the back problems that prevented him from playing on Friday, the taronja squad will have to leave four of their non-Spanish raised players (one of them necessarily one of his three non-EU players) and will complete the list of twelve with the young Lucas Marí.

Valencia Basket begins this round in fifth position in the Endesa League with a balance of 10-6.
