Valencia Basket- Baskonia post-game quotes: Xavi Albert

07/04/2024

“The first thing I want to do is remember Álex Mumbrú. We must value the people who pass through the Club, who have helped us grow. Highlight the many good games we have had this year against high-level teams in these almost two years with Álex. And I want to highlight not only the sporting part, which is important, but also the human part. The treatment with him has been excellent, I want to remember him because with me in particular, and I extend this to the entire staff, the treatment has been exquisite from the first day and I believe that everyone who passes through the Club is part of our history. and we must treat them as they deserve. So my first memory is for him.

The most important thing I can say about the game is that I had a great time. An excellent first half, but beyond talking about tactical situations or specific moments of the game, there is the intensity, the idea, doing simple things very well. Obviously pushed by the fans. Me, I'm from the house. I joined the Club when I was six years old, I have done all the categories as a player, all as a coach. For me, when I see Fonteta like this and even more so today, which was a special day for being my first day as a coach in office, I will take it with me for life. I know how special it is when Fonteta is like this or when I was the one in the stands making noise and hitting the ground when Swinson made a dunk. It is a great pleasure and I hope we can ensure that the level of play and support from the fans always remains at this level.

In the second part there are many things to improve. We were playing against an incredible team, I want to highlight the level of Baskonia. It is a tremendously well-trained team, they compete until the end. Just as you do partials in the first part, they can do them to you. And they have done it for us with incredible players with a talent that I don't come here to discover. And on these things, less in the first part, more in the second, we will have to work starting tomorrow."
