The Jr. NBA World Championship will hold its Europe Training Camp in l'Alqueria

The National Basketball Association (NBA) announced today the 2018 Jr. NBA World Championship - Europe Training Camp, a four-day training camp for the boys and girls teams that will represent Europe at the first Jr. NBA World Championship, the first global basketball tournament for elite youngsters between 13 and 14 years old from all over the world. The 2018 Jr. NBA World Championship - Europe Training Camp will take place from July 31 to August 3 at the facilities of L'Alqueria del Basket in Valencia, in collaboration with Valencia Basket.

 

The two teams, consisting of 10 players each, will have the presence of boys and girls from 12 countries in Europe, including three from Spain, three from Lithuania and two from the United Kingdom, Finland, Italy and Sweden, respectively. The boys’ team will be trained by Alessandro Nocera (Italy) and Eero Levä (Finland), while the girls' team will be trained by Uros Dragicevic (Spain) and Lina Brazdeikyte (Lithuania).

 

L'Alqueria del Basket will allow both teams to train together for the first time, to carry out teamwork activities and prepare for the competition that will take place at the ESPN Wide World of Sports Complex near Orlando from August 7 to 12, 2018.

 

The teams were selected by a committee of coaches and members of the NBA after the Jr. NBA World Championship Europe Camp, a week-long selection camp, which was held from April 30 to May 4 in Rogla, Slovenia.

 

The Italian player Mattia Durante replaces the Spaniard Javier Luque Gómez in the boy's team of the Jr NBA World Championship Europe for commitments with the Spanish national team U14.

 

The Jr. NBA World Championship will have a boy's and girl's division, each one consisting of 16 regional teams (8 from the United States and 8 international teams) that will travel with all expenses paid to compete in the inaugural event. The Jr. NBA World Championship will include a competition in an all-in-one format followed by individual elimination tournaments. The winners of the US and international crosses will play in the World Championship Game on August 12.
