Medical Part Rebecca Allen

10/11/2022

After her injury with the Australian team during the last World Cup, the tests to which Rebecca Allen was subjected at the end of the competition determined that it was more serious than initially indicated. The international had two broken ribs and a pneumothorax. This type of injury makes it impossible to travel by plane due to the pressure, therefore the player began a normal recovery process in her country that was estimated to take 6 weeks with the aim of reabsorbing the pneumothorax and being able to travel to Valencia.

In the last revisions carried out, it was observed that the pneumothorax was not reabsorbing as expected, so it was necessary to perform a drainage operation on the player. The intervention has already been carried out and Rebecca is fine. In the next few days, new tests will be carried out to study the evolution and this will determine the new recovery periods.
