Valencia Basket counts on La Fonteta to stay alive in its series against Barça

01/06/2023

Valencia Basket men’s team will have the warmth of La Fonteta to face the quarterfinals game 2 of the Endesa League Playoff vs. Barça (Friday 2, 9:00 p.m., Fonteta, #Vamos) looking for a triumph that allows the taronja squad to extend the series and prevent his season from ending after the defeat in the game 1 by 84-74.

In addition to the change of scenery and the support of its fans, the Taronja team will try to hold on to the precedents that favor it (has a good balance in the second games of the ACB quarterfinal series in which it started losing and does not stay blank in the first round of the Playoffs since 2011) against a rival against whom they have lost four of their last five games at La Fonteta in national competition and who have the best open streak of the tournament with nine wins in a row.

The victory in the Turkish Airlines EuroLeague game of this same campaign by 84-83 is a good model to follow for this commitment. So that this battle is not the last of the season, the taronja team has the same 14 players available as in the first game, so they will have to rule out one of their three non-EU players and another of their non-local grown players to define its 12-man list.

Sam Van Rossom, Xabi López-Arostegui and Millán Jiménez still sidelined, while the Barça team has its entire squad except for shooting guard Cory Higgins, who underwent surgery on his back earlier this month in May.
