A nail-biting defeat in Manresa (104-102 )

J29 Liga Endesa

Valencia Basket couldn't break their losing streak on the road against Baxi Manresa, falling 104-102 in their third game of the week. In a game characterized by back-and-forth scoring, Valencia initially struck first, but the game leveled out, with Valencia holding a slight lead at the end of the first quarter. Valencia Basket found their scoring touch at the start of the second quarter thanks to Costello and Moore, building a lead that reached ten points. However, Obasohan and Reyes not only tied the game but also put the home team ahead. The final quarter of the first half went to Valencia, with Josep Puerto leading the offense, giving them an eight-point advantage at halftime. Obasohan reappeared to lead a strong offensive run for his team, but Valencia Basket found enough points to maintain control of the game and enter the final quarter ahead thanks to a moment of inspiration from Brancou and solid play on both ends of the court from Braxton Key. Baxi Manresa managed to turn things around at the start of the final quarter, but Valencia Basket caught their breath with points from Brancou and two three-pointers from Thompson. However, Baxi Manresa delivered the final blow, making it a do-or-die game that was ultimately decided by Obasohan and a free throw from Reyes.

Quotes Pedro Martínez

“I think we played well on offense for almost the entire game, but our defense was quite poor, especially against Obasohan, who is obviously a very good player and had a great game, but we didn't defend him well. We struggled to defend some one-on-one situations; we closed down too much, and that led to some good shots for them. We played poorly in the final minute; we couldn't find good defenders on offense, and they capitalized on that.”
