MEN'S TEAM

Dominican guard Jean Montero has parted ways with Valencia Basket after the full amount of the buyout clause included in his contract was paid, bringing his time with our Club to an end after two seasons in which he helped the team win the Liga Endesa and the Supercopa Endesa titles.

The Club would like to thank Jean for his professionalism, commitment and hard work throughout his time representing Valencia Basket, and wishes him all the best for the future, both professionally and personally.

The player joined our men’s first team from MoraBanc Andorra in the summer of 2024 and went on to play a total of 131 games in a Valencia Basket jersey. In his first season, which marked his EuroCup debut, Jean averaged 15.1 points on 34.4% three-point shooting, 3.4 rebounds, 4.6 assists and 1.2 steals for an average performance rating of 17.9. During the 2024-25 campaign, he became the first player ever to win the Liga Endesa Best Young Player award three consecutive times, while also being named to the All-Liga Endesa First Team. In European competition, he was selected to the All-EuroCup First Team and was named the EuroCup Rising Star.

In his second season, Montero was unable to contribute to the Supercopa Endesa triumph due to a finger injury, but he became a key piece in achieving the club’s best-ever EuroLeague finish and securing our second Liga Endesa title. In the 75 games he played during the 2025-26 season, Jean averaged 15.2 points on 36.2% three-point shooting, 2.9 rebounds, 4.5 assists and 1.1 steals for an average performance rating of 18.4.

During the 2025-26 season, Montero continued to add to his list of individual accolades by being selected to the All-EuroLeague First Team, being named EuroLeague Playoffs MVP and earning the EuroLeague Rising Star award. In Liga Endesa, he was once again selected to the All-Liga Endesa First Team and was named MVP of the Finals Playoffs, which ended with Valencia Basket lifting its second acb championship title.
