The fourth win in the Liga Endesa comes in their return to the Roig Arena against Joventut Badalona (102-90)

J4 Liga Endesa

Valencia Basket earned their fourth win in the Endesa League in their return to the Roig Arena in this competition, defeating Joventut Badalona 102-90 in a match between two teams that came into this clash undefeated. In the first half, the orange team was almost always ahead after a strong early run, but they always had the green-and-black team on their toes, first with fifteen consecutive points from Hunt and then with the output of Rubio and Tomic, leading the game at halftime. Although La Penya briefly took the lead at the start of the second half, Valencia Basket fought back to compensate for their lack of accuracy from three-point range to regain control of the game with a strong opening in defense. The taronja then extended their lead slightly when De Larrea strung together a pair of successful shots to take the lead in the final quarter. A lead that grew to twenty points when Montero burst into action at the start of the final act of his first game at the Roig Arena, and which he managed to protect until the end, keeping the offensive machine firing despite the visitors' final reaction.

Post-game quotes – Pedro Martínez

"I think we played quite well overall; I think we shot pretty well from three. We made 12 three-pointers at 38%, which is very good, and especially at the start of the game, we were shooting very well from beyond the arc. Offensively, we had a very good game, playing with rhythm. Obviously, what happens in games is that you can’t maintain 40 minutes of consistency in the good things, nor in the bad, you have to keep adapting. On offense, of course, there were a few turnovers, a few rushed shots, but that’s part of the game. I think we played quite well.

Defensively, that’s where we struggled a bit more, especially in the first half against Cameron Hunt. First of all, I want to make it very clear that he’s a very good player, and obviously a difficult one to defend, but we didn’t defend him as well as we did in the second half when Kameron Taylor was on him — he did a great job there. So that’s where I’d put more emphasis, on our defense.
