Special thanks to Awa Fam

WOMEN'S TEAM

Valencia Basket would like to thank Awa Fam for her hard work and commitment during her time with the club, a chapter that now comes to a close as she embarks on new personal sporting adventures.

Awa Fam, born in Santa Pola in 2006, joined Valencia Basket in 2019 at the age of 13 and has spent seven years with the team. After shining in the youth ranks of both the club and the Spanish National Team, Awa made her debut for Valencia Basket at just 15 years old in 2021, earning her a place on the Wall of Dreams at L’Alqueria del Basket. In the youth categories, Awa Fam stood out as the best player in Valencia Basket's first two Spanish Youth Championships: the 2021 and 2022 U16 Spanish Championships.

Her gradual integration into the first team allowed her to gain experience and her first professional titles. In the 2024-25 season, along with Elena Buenavida, Awa was loaned to Lointek Gernika to continue her development. This allowed her to perform at a high level this season, where she has been a key player in securing the Liga Femenina Endesa and Copa de la Reina titles.

Awa Fam concludes this chapter with Valencia Basket, having played 124 games for the team and delivering an outstanding performance in this season's playoffs. She was decisive in both the semifinals against Spar Girona and the final against Casademont Zaragoza, sinking a three-pointer from the top of the key to the championship.

This unstoppable development has also made her a regular on the Spanish National Team, with whom she won silver at the EuroBasket last summer. Furthermore, she was selected third overall in the WNBA Draft, opening the door for her to join the Seattle Storm in the world's best league soon. There, she will be one more member of the Valencia Basket family and a true reflection of the success of L’Alqueria del Basket's youth development model.

Valencia Basket wishes her the best of luck in her upcoming professional challenges and reminds her that she will always be part of the Taronja Family that watched her grow. Thank you for everything, Awa!
