Valencia Basket 3x3 tipped off the new season with La Jaula ACB, held on October 6 at the iconic City of Arts and Sciences in Valencia. Organised by the ACB, the event brought together both Valencia Basket teams for the first tournament of the new campaign, while also providing the opportunity to unveil the new 3x3 jerseys. Neither team was able to reach the final after being eliminated in the semi-finals.

In the women’s competition, Irene Broncano, Carmen Segura, Lucía Reos and Frida Cecchi got off to a dominant start. The Valencia side defeated BBall C3nter 21-4 and The 3X3 Academy 21-6, completing a perfect group stage and advancing to the semi-finals. There, the team faced a closely contested battle against RBA Vulcano, who eventually prevailed 17-14. The Valencia side therefore narrowly missed out on the final after an excellent first competitive outing of the season.

Meanwhile, the men’s team, made up of Marcos Reos, Javier Herrero, Alfonso Ribera and Jorge Parra, began their campaign with a forfeit win against BBall C3nter. In their second game, the Valencia side lost 17-21 to Mataró 3x3, a result that sent them through to the semi-finals. There, the team once again played out a thrillingly close contest, this time against The Embassy, who secured a narrow 21-20 victory, decided by a two-pointer from Adam Waczyński.

Beyond the results, La Jaula ACB marked the competitive start of the new season for both teams, with the added significance of doing so at home and at one of Valencia’s most iconic landmarks.

The men’s team will now turn its attention to their next international challenge at the Belo Horizonte Challenger, the next stop on the FIBA 3x3 circuit.
