Valencia Basket men's team faces a complicated challenge in which they hope to count on the atmosphere of the great European nights as they welcome EA7 Emporio Armani Milan (Tuesday 7, 20:30, Roig Arena, Movistar+ Deportes) in a game corresponding to Round 36 of the EuroLeague.
Having already secured their best regular season in the EuroLeague, the taronja side continues to dream, backed by their fans, of achieving a victory that would mathematically seal their virtual ticket to the play-in and take an important step forward in the fight to remain among the top six teams, which would allow them to avoid that preliminary do-or-die round.
Pedro Martínez’s men come into the middle of a stretch of five games in ten days to face an opponent that has historically been difficult for them in Valencia (a 2–4 record in favor of the Italian side), but one they defeated in the last meeting between the two teams at La Fonteta, where they also held off the home team’s comeback to claim the win in the first-leg matchup thanks to a three-pointer from Jean Montero.
The taronja team will have to contain an opponent that has increased its pace in recent games without losing its high offensive efficiency, and which is the second-best three-point shooting team in the competition with an accuracy rate of 38.9%.
The good news on the injury front is the gradual return of Kameron Taylor to the team, as he was already able to play limited minutes in Sunday’s game against Río Breogán, although Sergio De Larrea has joined Xabi López-Arostegui as a confirmed absence for this week’s three games.
Valencia Basket begins this round in fourth place in the EuroLeague standings with a 22–13 record.
