Valencia Basket men’s team will count on the support of its fans as they face the second game of a three-game week to close out the ACB regular season, hosting Dreamland Gran Canaria (Friday 29, 8:30 PM, Roig Arena, DAZN) in a Liga Endesa round 34 clash.
The taronja side still controls its own destiny to finish the Regular Season in second place, which would require winning its remaining two games. They can no longer fall below fifth place and could even secure a seeded position before Sunday’s trip to Barcelona. However, to do so they would not only need to beat the yellow side, but also needs for either Kosner Baskonia or UCAM Murcia to lose.
Recent history favors Valencia Basket, who this season ended their poor regular-season run at the Gran Canaria Arena. However, the Claretian side has proven to be a dangerous opponent in recent years, winning four of their last eleven visits, and they come into this game desperately needing a victory to avoid relying on other results in their fight to avoid relegation.
For this game, Josep Puerto and Xabi López-Arostegui will remain sidelined through injury. The Valencia-born player, who is in the final stages of recovering from a sprained left ankle, may have to delay his return to action as he is now suffering from a severe viral illness. Meanwhile, the muscular injury in the back of the Basque forward’s leg has not improved, so work continues on his recovery, and his return to team activities will depend on his progress.
In addition, Kameron Taylor’s participation is doubtful after missing several training sessions due to a viral illness.
The taronja team begins this round in fourth place in the Liga Endesa standings with a 23-9 record, although having played one game fewer than Kosner Baskonia and UCAM Murcia.
