Valencia Basket opens a very tough week on the road on the court of Olympiacos Piraeus

EuroLeague round 16

Miguel Ángel Polo

Valencia Basket men’s team begins a run of three consecutive road games this week by visiting one of the toughest courts on the continent, that of Olympiacos Piraeus (Tuesday 16, 8:15 pm, SEF, #Vamos), in a game corresponding to Round 16 of the EuroLeague.

The taronja side will not have it easy to keep its good run of results going on a court where the Greek team has been very reliable, although Valencia Basket has achieved good results in its most recent visits there.

The fact that Olympiacos is the only opponent Valencia Basket has faced in all of its EuroLeague appearances means that the red-and-white club moves into joint first place as the most frequent rival in the club’s continental history. This upcoming game will be the 17th meeting between the two teams, and the ninth visit to Olympiacos also places them first as the opponent Valencia Basket has visited most often for an official European competition game, tied with LDLC ASVEL.

Forward Xabi López-Arostegui (with a muscle injury in his right leg) is the only confirmed absentee for this road trip, for which head coach Pedro Martínez has traveled with the 14 professional players available to him.

Valencia Basket begins this round in second place in the EuroLeague standings with a 10–5 record.
