First away-game in the Turkish Airlines EuroLeague to visit the Real Madrid court
Valencia Basket faces its first away game in the current Turkish Airlines EuroLeague season with the intention of improving its feelings on one of the most complicated courts on the continent, Real Madrid’s one (Thursday 8, 9:00 p.m., Wizink Center, DAZN).
The taronja squad will do so in a game in which captain Bojan Dubljevic can match Rafa Martínez as the taronja player with the most games played in the Euroleague and which will mean the first clash against Alberto Abalde (three seasons and 165 games as taronja) after his departure to the team white this summer, upon payment of his buy-out clause.
Valencia Basket has only been able to win in one of its five visits to the Real Madrid court in the highest continental competition, almost a decade ago, in a match played on March 24, 2011 and that ended with a 75-81 away win.
Coach Jaume Ponsarnau recovers Serbian Vanja Marinkovic for this game, who will be able to play his first official game of the season tomorrow, and has joined forward Josep Puerto to the group, recalled from his loan at TAU Castelló, but he will not be in the final roster for this game. The only confirmed sidelined player due to an injury is guard Joan Sastre, with a partial tear in the internal lateral ligament of the right knee.
