Hard start in the Copa del Rey Granada 2022 vs. UCAM Murcia

Valencia Basket opens its participation in the Copa del Rey Granada 2022 facing UCAM Murcia in the quarterfinals (Friday 18, 6:30 p.m., Palacio de los Deportes, #Vamos) in a game that is unprecedented since it is the first time it occurs in this tournament.

 

In its 23rd participation in this competition and after managing to chain ten consecutive appearances in the Copa del Rey for the first time, the Taronja squad faces a tough rival who won at La Fonteta in the only precedent this season, the acb Regular League game that ended with a Murcian victory by 86-91.

 

Unlike that game, in which the Taronja team had five sidelined players due to injury, Valencia Basket traveled to Granada on Thursday afternoon with its twelve available professional players and the young Millán Jiménez expanding the Taronja roster to thirteen.

 

The Riojan forward may be the only debutant in the competition, since all the professional players have already played at least once in this tournament, with Víctor Claver being able to play it again with the taronja jersey eleven years later and Bojan Dubljevic being the first to play ten editions in a row with Valencia Basket.

 

Joan Peñarroya's men will have the support of 200 fans to try to overcome this first quarter-final series. The Taronja squad has fallen in the first game in three of their last four appearances in the Copa del Rey.
