Key duel in the recovery in the Endesa League with the first visit to the Covirán Granada's court
Valencia Basket closes a three games week by visiting the Covirán Granada’s court for the first time (Sunday 18, 6:30 p.m., Palacio de los Deportes, Movistar+ Deportes) in a game corresponding to round 12 of the Endesa League. With the accumulated wear and tear of beating Panathinaikos Athens in overtime and fighting until the end but losing at FC Bayern, the Taronja team wants to close the week positively, looking for a victory that will allow them to continue reducing the gap that separates them from the positions that give access to the Copa del Rey.
Looking for that objective, the taronja squad will have to see how the accumulated fatigue affects a Dubljevic who this week is giving an excellent performance (25.5 points with 4 three-pointers per game, 6 rebounds and an average of 30 PIR in the two Euroleague games this week) and find more inspired players to back the captain.
On an afternoon in which Víctor Claver could become the eighth player in history to reach 300 appearances with Valencia Basket, the Taronja forward is the only survivor of our last visit to the Palacio de los Deportes in Granada for an acb game, which arrived a little less than twelve years ago, against the disappeared CB Granada and which ended with a Valencian victory.
Point guard Chris Jones, who rested in the Munich game so as not to subject his right knee to the requirement of a week of three games, has been part of the thirteen-player roster that heads to Granada this afternoon. On the eve of the match, coach Álex Mumbrú will decide which of the three non-EU players (Rivero, Webb III or Harper) is left out of the list for Sunday.
The Taronja team maintains the absences of the long-term injured Sam Van Rossom (surgery on his right knee), Millán Jiménez (who had surgery last Wednesday to end his left ankle discomfort) and Martin Hermannsson. Valencia Basket begins this round located in the 10th position with a balance of 5-6.
