Pamesa Valencia seeks an important win vs. Gran Canaria in homage to the 1998 Cup trophy
Valencia Basket men's team will recover the white, red and blue and the name of Pamesa Valencia to face Gran Canaria (Sunday 12, 5:00 p.m., Fonteta, Movistar Deportes) in a game corresponding to round 20 of the League Endesa that will be marked by the commemoration of the 25th anniversary of the 1998 Copa del Rey title in the last home game before facing this tournament next week.
Less than 42 hours after the victory against Panathinaikos Athens, Álex Mumbrú's men will need to recover all the energy possible and lean on the encouragement of the fans on such an important day to try to break their bad dynamic in the Endesa League after two consecutive defeats on difficult courts like Málaga and Barcelona and extending the good moment at home in acb (four home-games in a row in national competition).
Xabi López-Arostegui was able to play a few minutes in Athens after overcoming his knee discomfort, but captain Bojan Dubljevic will be a game time decision, absent in the victory at Panathinaikos’s court and who has missed the last six games due to a sprained right ankle. The long-term injured Sam Van Rossom, Martin Hermannsson and Millán Jiménez have been confirmed.
One of the three non-EU players (Harper, Rivero or Webb) will have to be ruled out for the game.
The Taronja team is looking for an important victory so that a direct rival in the fight for the Playoff positions does not distance itself any further, looking out of the corner of its eye at the six points of disadvantage in the particular basket-average after the defeat in the first leg game by 95-89.
The precedents at home are favorable to the taronja team 24-9 in acb, although the yellow team has revealed itself as a dangerous visitor who has won at Fonteta in three of their last seven visits.
Valencia Basket begins this day located in 10th position with a balance of 9-10.
