Valencia Basket saw its winning streak in the
Endesa League cut short on the Joventut Badalona’s court (80-76) when it fell
to the accuracy of Thomas and Andrews and the push of the young players of the
green-and-black team on an afternoon in which the taronja squad lacked accuracy
in the 3-point shot at the key moment to attempt a comeback with its final
push. The taronja team entered the game cold and was a little frozen with the
injury to Chris Jones' left ankle when barely two minutes had passed. That, together
with the local team's success in three-pointers, led Valencia Basket to be down
twelve as soon as the second quarter began with a superlative Thomas, but he
reacted with a run of 2-13 thanks to Reuvers and Harper and turned it around
with another 0-9 run to end the first half and reach the break four up. Ojeleye
contained the local reaction after the half-time but an offensive push by
Busquets once again stretched the green and black lead and the 3-point accuracy
of Thomas and Andrews placed the taronja squad fourteen points down with six
minutes left. The taronja team raised the defensive bar and cut back to within
four, but could not find the success to complete their reaction.
