Valencia Basket looks for the 2nd spot in the Regular Season ending vs. UCAM Murcia
Valencia Basket closes the Regular League in a Fonteta where the orange squad have fourteen wins in a row in Liga Endesa to receive the best version of the season of UCAM Murcia (Sunday 14, 18: 00h, Movistar + dial 68). The Taronja team will repeat their best classification at the end of a ACB Regular Season, the second position that already obtained in 2003 and 2014, if wins the game. Valencia Basket can even finish second by still losing and winning Baskonia his game against Montakit Fuenlabrada, as long as the Vitorian team does not trace the 29 points difference in the general basket-average that is now between the two teams.
As in the last three games, centers Mike Tobey and Slava Kravtsov are out for the match, while Sam Van Rossom, who missed some practice sessions during the week for knee discomfort, will be available in Sunday afternoon. At the end of a final journey with unified schedule (with the exception of Herbalife Gran Canaria - RETAbet Bilbao Basket), the Taronja team will know who will be their opponent in the quarterfinals of their eleventh consecutive playoff participation. Herbalife Gran Canaria, FC Barcelona Lassa, Iberostar Tenerife or Unicaja are the possible candidates to face Valencia Basket in a series that would start in the Fonteta on 20 or 21 May. The Taronja team currently occupy second spot in the Endesa League with 23W-8L.
Pedro Martínez: "The priority is to win and be second
Valencia Basket coach, Pedro Martínez, said in the preview of the week 34 Endesa League game vs. UCAM Murcia (Sunday 14, 18: 00h, Movistar + dial 68) that "they are a team that is in very good shape. They have won a lot of games with the new coach. We have to try to give the best of ourselves because they are going to come to demonstrate their pride as professionals and their dignity to be competitive. They are going to play very hard and I do not think it will be a comfortable match because they no longer have playoff options. We must prepare for a complicated game, with alternatives. The priority is to win this game, to be seconds, to celebrate if we get it and from Monday we will start the next challenge".
