Valencia Basket repeats European date hosting at Fonteta Amar’e Stoudemire’s Hapoel Jerusalem
Valencia Basket faces their second 7DAYS Eurocup consecutive home game receiving Hapoel Bank Yahav Jerusalem (Wednesday 19, 20:30 h, Fonteta, Teledeporte/Eurosport 2) in a game in which the taronja team will seek to assert the home-court advantage to keep the lead of Group D achieved after the last week triumph vs. ratiopharm Ulm. Coach Pedro Martínez will have his twelve professional players available to greet a Hapoel Jerusalem which took the victory the last time they visited la Fonteta, in the 2010 Eurocup. During the meeting will be held several initiatives of support to the fight against Breast Cancer.
Third European game vs. Hapoel Jerusalem
Will be the third time that these two teams meet at Fonteta in game of this competition. The first confrontation, even with the name of ULEB Cup, came in the 2004-05 season and finished with Valencia Basket win by a score of 74-60. The second precedent took place on the first game of the 2009-10 Eurocup Last 32 and Hapoel Jerusalem won that game by 75-79. That triumph of Hapoel broke a Valencia Basket home-winning streak at home of 32 victories and a tie in the Eurocup, although the team taronja would end up winning the Eurocup that same season.
P. Martínez: “We have to be prepared for a very physical game”
Coach Pedro Martínez said in the previous press conference that "we have to be aware of us, make our game, play with rhythm, defend aggressive. They are a team that has a lot of dynamism playing. We have to be prepared to not let them score easy baskets, that in them is a virtue. And we have to be prepared for a very physical game. They are a very physical team, very athletic players, and we have to be at the physical level to rebound, run down to defend, for running fastbreaks because I believe that it will be a tough game physically. Amar’e Stoudemire is playing very hard, playing for the team, not playing like a star but he certainly is. I think that that makes him more dangerous that if he tried to score 20 points every day, in any case something that he is certainly capable to do”
