Valencia Basket seek to recover the 'Fonteta factor' in the game vs. Red Star Belgrade
Valencia Basket will appeal to the strength of their pavilion to try to break their bad streak in the Turkish Airlines Euroleague in the match that faces the taronja squad with the Red Star Belgrade (Friday 15, 20: 30h, Fonteta, Movistar Deportes 1). Valencia Basket recovers to the second captain Bojan Dubljevic and Alberto Abalde is questionable, despite he joined the team at practice last Tuesday. The taronja squad will need more than ever the support of their fans to reverse a dynamic of two defeats in the Fonteta in their last two home games against Milan and Olympiacos. In a match in which the long-range accuracy seems to be a decisive factor, Valencia Basket has on their side the good record against Serbian teams in the Fonteta (4-1). Although the Red Star took the triumph in his last visit to the taronja gym in the Turkish Airlines Euroleague.
Despite winning two players, the Taronja squad still has four of their men who will not be available for tomorrow's game: Joan Sastre, Antoine Diot, Latavious Williams and the newcomer Sergi Garcia. Erick Green, third best scorer of the Turkish Airlines Euroleague with an average of 17.4 points per game, will play a beautiful match-up against the point guard Taylor Rochestie (fifth best scorer of the competition, with 15.2 points per game). The taronja team has a record of 3 wins and 8 defeats after playing seven of their eleven games away, with five of the last seven as visitors, which places them in the 13th position of the Turkish Airlines Euroleague.
Vidorreta: "We must bring all our energy to fight the good moment of the Crvena Zvevda Belgrade"
Valencia Basket coach Txus Vidorreta said in the preview press conference of the Turkish Airlines Euroleague round 12 game vs. Red Star Belgrade (Friday 15, 20: 30h, Fonteta, Movistar Sports 1) that "the team is working well, we control the games but we lack a little energy in the final moments. We are optimistic at the time of, lengthening the rotation with Dubljevic and Abalde, to be able to play 40 minutes of that good basketball that I think we are making more minutes little by little. Crvena Zvevda arrives at the best moment of the season. They won Anadolu Efes with solvency and won a prestigious victory at the Palacio vs. Real Madrid just over ten days ago. It is a complex team, with a lot of offensive talent, both in frontcourt and backcourt. They play with great energy and we have to put all our energy to be able to fight that good moment they have, appealing to our good basketball and the fact that we are able to play better more minutes".
