Valencia Basket seeks to remain solid in La Fonteta vs. Surne Bilbao Basket

Valencia Basket men's team returns home to face Surne Bilbao Basket (Saturday 22, 8:45 p.m., Movistar Deportes 2) in a round 29 Endesa League game.

 

The Taronja team will try to become strong again in La Fonteta (where they have won eight of their last nine acb games) to protect the Playoff spot that they currently occupy against a rival that aspires to get closer to that eighth position.

 

An opponent which has been an uncomfortable visitor, winning five of his last thirteen visits, which he won at La Fonteta in the 2019-20 season and forced Valencia Basket to make great comebacks to end up winning in the last two visits from the Bilbao team.

 

The game will mark the first return to La Fonteta of the second coach with most games as head coach for our men's team, Jaume Ponsarnau, and the proximity of the 20th anniversary of the entity's first European title, the ULEB Cup 2003, will be used to pay homage to the squad and coaching staff that achieved that victory.

 

Sam Van Rossom and Klemen Prepelic still sidelined. And Xabi López-Arostegui, who has missed the last three games due to some discomfort in the plantar fascia of the left foot is also almost certain sidelined. James Webb III, who is returning to training after missing the game in Murcia due to a problem with his left eye, is questionable. In order for him to re-enter the roster, one of the other two non-EU players would have to be deactivated.

 

Valencia Basket begins this round located in the 8th position of the Endesa League with a record of 14-14.
