Valencia Basket has reached an agreement with point guard Álvaro Cárdenas (1.85m, Granada, 29/04/2002, 24 years old) to extend the contract that tied him to the orange club. Following this renewal, his deal will now run through the end of the 2027–28 season. After completing his loan spell at Peristeri Betsson, following the team's elimination in the Greek League playoff quarterfinals, the player joined our senior men's team practices this Friday and has been officially registered in the Liga Endesa. As a result, he will be eligible to participate in domestic competition games through the end of the season.
In his first experience in professional basketball after developing at San José State and Boise State universities, the Granada-born point guard played 26 Greek League games, averaging just over 26 minutes per game. He posted averages of 10.8 points, 3.4 rebounds, and 4.9 assists, with an efficiency rating of 13.3.
This season also marked his debut in continental competitions, as he played in the FIBA Europe Cup, where Peristeri Betsson was eliminated in the quarterfinals by finalist PAOK BC. Cárdenas concluded his European campaign averaging 12.9 points, shooting an impressive 54.8% from three-point range, along with 3.7 rebounds and 3.3 assists for an efficiency rating of 14.2. To cap off this first professional season, the Valencia Basket point guard also made his official debut with the Spanish senior national team during the qualification windows for the 2027 Qatar World Cup in November 2025 and February 2026.
