FIBA AfroBasket 2025 ended tonight in Angola with a victory for the host nation, the first medal for Malian basketball since 1972 with tonight’s silver after losing the final 70-43 to Angola, and Senegal’s bronze as the orange reward thanks to Brancou Badio, who was selected to the tournament’s All-Star Five.

The orange shooting guard led his national team with two stellar performances in the Round of 16 and the quarterfinals, finishing AfroBasket as the second-leading scorer of the competition with 19.9 points per game and second in three-pointers made (3.6 per game at 38.5% efficiency). He was awarded as the tournament’s top scorer and best three-point shooter in absolute terms. On top of that, he averaged 3.9 rebounds, 2.9 assists, and 1 steal for 14.9 efficiency credits per game.

The other orange representative in the tournament, center Matt Costello, was one of the standout players, finishing as the fifth most efficient player (19.3 credits) while also ranking in the Top 10 in rebounds (fifth with 7.8 per game) and assists (ninth with 4.3 per game). He added 12.8 points and 1.8 steals to complete his stat line. He was Côte d’Ivoire’s best player, helping them advance directly to the quarterfinals as group winners, but they fell to Mali in overtime 96-102, leaving his participation at four games and allowing him to be present at the start of preseason on Monday the 25th.
