Tough test for Valencia Basket with their visit to AS Monaco
EuroLeague round 5

The competition gives no breaks to Valencia Basket’s men’s team, which will face the second game of its three-match stretch in five days as they visit AS Monaco (Friday 17, 7:30 p.m., Salle Gaston Médecin, Movistar Deportes 3) in a Round 5 EuroLeague clash. It will by no means be an easy venue to try to turn around their recent continental form, as the Monegasque team’s court has historically been a tough place for the “taronja” side to win in European competition.
Pedro Martínez’s men — with the coach set to lead his 200th game at the helm of the professional men’s team — will look to recharge after Wednesday’s loss to Hapoel IBI Tel Aviv and try to bring out their best version to have a shot at victory, just as they did in their last visit to Monaco, when they fell by a single point in a game decided in the final moments.
With Sestina and Iroegbu out of the roster, the “taronja” coach has thirteen professional players available, thanks to the return of Jean Montero to training. The only confirmed absence due to injury is center Yankuba Sima. Valencia Basket enters this fifth round of the EuroLeague in ninth place with a 2–2 record.
