The Valencia Basket 3x3 women’s team experienced its first intercontinental appearance at the Manila Hustle 3x3 Season 4, held in Pasay (Philippines) from February 7 to 9. In a tournament of the highest competitive level, featuring some of the top Asian teams and standout players from the FIBA 3x3 ranking, the taronja side delivered a strong performance in its debut outside Europe, finishing seventh among 16 teams.
The roster that travelled to the Philippines consisted of Frida Cecchi, Lucía Reos, Carmen Segura and María Villar, also becoming the only European team competing in the tournament. A milestone that reinforces Valencia Basket’s 3x3 project commitment to expanding horizons and gaining a stronger presence on the international stage.
In the group phase, the taronja side opened with a demanding clash against Shoot It Dragons, which was decided after a tightly contested overtime (14-16) in favour of the Asian team. The squad bounced back in the second game, defeating Uratex Tibay 17-13, before closing the group with a solid 18-12 win over Selangor EST Jersey, securing direct qualification for the quarterfinals and avoiding the round of 16.
In the knockout stage, Valencia Basket 3x3 faced the local Uratex Dream in a high-intensity, fast-paced matchup, where the home team ultimately prevailed 20-16, bringing the taronja run in the tournament to an end.
Beyond the result, participation in the Manila Hustle 3x3 represents a key step forward for the Valencia Basket 3x3 women’s project. Competing against leading Asian teams —featuring players ranked among the best in the FIBA standings— and undertaking a long journey to the Philippines has provided the team with a highly valuable competitive experience, raising the level and strengthening the project’s international identity.
With this event, Valencia Basket 3x3 continues to carry its taronja identity around the globe, reaffirming its commitment to competitions with worldwide reach. The next stop for both the men’s and women’s teams will be Round 4 of the 3x3 FEB League, to be held on February 14 and 15.
