Valencia Basket picked up another win at the Roig Arena to snap its losing streak, beating Covirán Granada by 107–91 in a game where the “taronja” side took control with a 12–0 run late in the first quarter and never let go, managing both the visitors’ comeback attempts and their own offensive slumps well.
Although the Andalusian team halted the first attempt to pull away on the scoreboard with Alibegović’s three-pointers early in the second quarter, De Larrea and Pradilla found the basket to extend the lead, which grew to 16 points by halftime thanks to Valencia Basket’s three-pointers just before the break.
Scoring from Nate Reuvers restored the run with which Covirán Granada opened the second half and pushed Valencia’s lead beyond twenty, allowing the home side to stay comfortably ahead despite a spell of offensive struggles midway through the third quarter.
The defensive energy of Nogués and Brancou held off the visitors’ response, and although Puerto’s three-pointers widened the gap again, the Granada side found points from its key players to stay within reach—though they were never able to cut the deficit to fewer than twelve points.
Post-game quotes: Pedro Martínez
“It’s a positive win because it helps us regain a good feeling. Obviously, when we’ve lost against strong opponents, we haven’t overreacted, so when we beat a team that, in quotes and with all due respect, we’re expected to beat, we’re not going to start celebrating as if everything is perfect. Because when things go badly, we don’t say everything is terrible either.
Nogués had a big impact on defense—he’s a player with great ability to do well there—but he also contributed a lot in rebounding and in playing at a good pace. He had a very good game and helped us. I’m very happy, as always, first for the team, but also a bit for him, and for Yankuba as well, who I think also had a solid game. It’s commendable because when players have been out for many days, they show their strong mentality.”
