Valencia Basket returns to Roig Arena to face Surne Bilbao Basket

Liga Endesa round 32

Valencia Basket men's team returns home after Wednesday’s magical night to face its final Liga Endesa commitment before the Final Four, taking on a dangerous Surne Bilbao Basket (Sunday 17, 5:00 PM, Roig Arena, DAZN) in a game corresponding to Round 32 of the ACB season.

The orange side will need to put behind them their extremely demanding EuroLeague playoff series against Panathinaikos AKTOR Athens and look for a victory that would end their recent poor run in domestic competition while keeping them firmly in the fight for top playoff seeding positions in Liga Endesa, with four teams battling to secure second place.

It will not be easy against an opponent that this week moved into the playoff spots after defeating Real Madrid and has so far proven to be one of the strongest defensive teams in Liga Endesa. Although the overall historical record in Valencia favors the orange team, the Men in Black have won two of their last six visits to the city. The first-round meeting, however, went Valencia Basket’s way with a commanding 72–116 victory.

Valencia Basket continues to be without the injured Xabi López-Arostegui and Josep Puerto. However, following the end of his loan spell at Peristeri Betsson, the club has added Spanish international point guard Álvaro Cárdenas to its Liga Endesa roster. He could make his debut in orange in this game if head coach Pedro Martínez decides to include him in the squad.

Valencia Basket begins this round in fifth place in Liga Endesa with a 21–9 record, although they still have a postponed game against Casademont Zaragoza to be played on Tuesday, May 26.
