The taronja presence at the FIBA AmeriCup 2025 came to an end tonight after the Dominican Republic was eliminated by Brazil in the quarterfinals, in a game where the Brazilian team prevailed 82-94 after taking control in the second quarter and extending its lead in the third. Jean Montero scored 12 points and grabbed 3 rebounds in this knockout game before being disqualified in the third quarter.

The taronja guard did not take part in the team’s opening game of the tournament against Colombia due to a finger injury on his right hand, but he made his debut to help his team secure an overtime win against Argentina and later ensured victory over hosts Nicaragua, which allowed the Dominican Republic to advance as group leaders. However, the draw paired them with another favorite, Brazil, which ended the Dominicans’ run in the tournament at the quarterfinal stage.

Jean Montero finished the tournament averaging 10.3 points, 3.3 rebounds, and 4 assists for 9.3 rating index. Meanwhile, center Joel Soriano, who will play on loan from Valencia Basket at Casademont Zaragoza next season, took part in all four games of the tournament, averaging 12,2 points, 5,2 rebounds and 3 blocks for 16 index rating
