Valencia Basket makes its EuroLeague Final Four debut with its semifinal vs. Real Madrid

EuroLeague Final Four 2026

Miguel Ángel Polo

Valencia Basket’s men’s team will compete in the EuroLeague Final Four for the first time after securing a memorable 3–2 playoff series win over Panathinaikos AKTOR Athens. The taronja squad will make their debut in the tournament that brings together the four best teams in Europe by facing Real Madrid in the semifinal (Friday 22nd, 20:00, Telekom Center Athens, Movistar+ Plus), in a game that will mark another milestone in our Club’s continental history.

More than 700 taronja supporters will be in Athens backing our team, bringing a piece of the Roig Arena to a city where we have achieved positive results so far this season. They will also have the chance to experience our first-ever Final Four firsthand — a first appearance in this competition not only for the entire taronja roster, but also for our head coach.

In a tournament featuring not only the four best teams from the regular season and those with the highest number of wins so far, but also the four best defenses, the taronja side will need to produce its best defensive performance against an opponent that ranks second in offensive efficiency and leads the competition in controlling defensive rebounds.

The EuroLeague head-to-head record between the two teams this season is evenly balanced, with each side winning its home game this season. However, Real Madrid has won five of the last six EuroLeague meetings between these teams. And of the six matchups between the Blancos and the Taronja side this season so far (Athens will host the seventh), the Madrid team has won the last four encounters, including the last two in convincing fashion.

The taronja delegation has traveled with its full roster for this historic occasion, although head coach Pedro Martínez will only have 13 players available for selection. Team captain Josep Puerto (left ankle) and Xabi López-Arostegui (muscle injury) have both been ruled out, while Álvaro Cárdenas is unavailable because he is not registered for the competition.
